Join Cindy Easterson of the Puget Sound Bird Observatory (PSBO) for a behind-the-scenes look at efforts to uncover the secret lives of wetland birds. Learn how PSBO’s Wetland Secretive Birds survey, launched in 2016, has grown to monitor more than 200 wetlands across 11 counties and is revealing new insights into elusive species like the American Bittern, Sora, and Virginia Rail. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just marsh-curious, explore how volunteer-powered science is filling critical data gaps and informing conservation of these iconic marsh birds.
Presenter Cindy Easterson has served on the PSBO board since 2010 and manages PSBO’s Regional Wetland Secretive Bird Monitoring project and Port Susan Bay estuary avian monitoring, in addition to providing oversight for a wide variety of other avian monitoring projects
