Announcing a Special Presentation: Birds and Wildlife in the Coast Salish Native Culture
You are invited to a special presentation exploring the profound connection between nature and Indigenous heritage. Join renowned Coast Salish muralist and visual artist Jason LaClair (Sienum) for an insightful session on the sacred role of birds and wildlife within Lummi and Nooksack traditions. Through the powerful lens of traditional Coast Salish design, storytelling, and symbolism, LaClair will share the cultural significance of the natural world. An artist of Lummi and Nooksack heritage, he is celebrated for his major community murals and public art that honor the Salish Sea, salmon, and local Indigenous history. Following the presentation, attendees can view his artwork, which will be on display at his Birding Expo booth in the Blaine Pavilion.
